Talents Abound

GEDC0237Hey, this is Michael (trumpet student) and Thaddaeus (clarinet student) telling you about the past weekend of the 12th and 13th. Saturday night we had the talent show which featured many great musical and dramatic performances. The acts ranged from as little as singing a song to acting out the Star Wars Trilogy in less than seven minutes. Some other noteworthy performances included Johanna’s singing of “Love Song” by Sara Bareilles and Martin and Austin’s original song about the summer at LSM which concluded the show.

Then, before the dance began, Robert’s jazz combo performed two songs for everyone. The combo consisted of a rhythm section and a trumpet, sax, and violin player. After they finished, the dance began which ended up running twenty minutes over schedule. Everyone could surely attest to how great a Saturday it was.

Sunday morning began as usual with Sunday Worship. This Sunday, however, the service was accompanied by Bach Cantata 172. The choir members were selected from students in the concert choir, faculty, and staff. They certainly added something extra to the service. The day then continued with plenty of free time, which many students took advantage of by practicing for Festival Week. The night was then concluded by a faculty Artist Recital and another Evening Prayer service from Chaplain Lang.

With our final week finally under way, everyone is putting the final touches on their performances. All of the soloist performers are getting together with their accompanists and everything seems to be coming together just in time for a climactic series of performances.
